Four Components
BCVSS counseling and guidance program is comprehensive in scope, preventive in design, and developmental in nature. our Comprehensive Counseling Plan is guided by The ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling and the State of Alabama's Counseling Plan. Our plan includes four components: Guidance Curriculum, Individual Planning, Responsive Services and System Support.

All counseling services in the school setting are educational in nature and short in duration. School counselors do not provide therapeutic counseling or long-term counseling.
individual planning
counseling activities that provide every student with an opportunity to plan, monitor, and manage their academic, career, and personal/social development.
system support
indirect guidance management activities that maintain and enhance the total school counseling and guidance program. It includes program, staff, and school support activities and services.
guidance curriculum

that address academic, career, and personal/social development.
responsive services
counseling or referral activities to meet the immediate needs and concerns of students.
